Shaily’s Note

It All Begins Here

This book was never meant to be written.

It began as memories — scattered thoughts, moments, habits I couldn’t let go of. I started writing because I was afraid that if I didn’t, Bella’s presence would slowly fade into silence.

But Bella was never silent.

She came into our lives at a time when I was grieving deeply. I had lost my brother, and a part of me had shut down. Bella didn’t fix my pain — but she stayed with it. She sat in it. She barked through it. She reminded me how to laugh again, how to love fully, and how to live without fear.

She wasn’t just a pet.

She was my baby.
My companion.
My strength.
My therapist.
Sometimes my child. Sometimes my teacher.
Always my constant.

Bella grew up with my children, Ria and Aaryan, and loved them fiercely in her own way. She built families wherever she went — neighbors, friends, chosen families, other dogs, and humans who may not even realize how much space she occupies in their hearts.

This book is not about the loss.

It is about her presence.

It is about the way love shows up with paws and fur and attitude. About how a small dog can carry a broken human until she is strong again — and then quietly leave when her job is done.

Bella lived with us.
Bella lives in our hearts.
And Bella will be with us forever.
