The Ones I Let In

Let’s not judge-Once in a while I did was allow someone close to me. That was a rule…of course made by me!

But every rule has exceptions. Back in LA, two houses down, there lived a milk-white, very handsome husky named Mylo.

He was big. At least five times my size. Normally, that would have been a problem.

But not with Mylo.

He had quiet patience, happy energy, and no attitude. When he saw me, he didn’t challenge me. He didn’t crowd me. He just jumped around me — excited, joyful, completely harmless. And for some reason, I didn’t mind.

I had a crush on him…

He could bounce. He could play. He could be huge and clumsy and loud — and I was fine with it. I stood my ground, watched him carefully, and let him exist in my space.

That meant something.

Some dogs earn trust by backing off. Some earn it by being gentle.
And some — like Mylo — earn it by simply being good.

I always remember him. Because the dogs i let in… they always stayed with me.
