Out Of The Box & In Her Heart

Okay, first of all — I did not ask to be put in a box.

But if you are going to start your life in one, it might as well be during Christmas, surrounded by excitement, wrapping paper noises, and humans who are very eager to keep surprises.

I could hear everything.

Laughter. Talking. Someone said, “Sorry Mom, you’re the last one.”
Last? That was rude. But also… dramatic. Well I will go with it.

Then someone told you to close your eyes.
I waited.

The box opened halfway, light poured in, and I looked up with my biggest, most innocent eyes — the ones that say “Please love me” but also “I will run this house.”

You stared at me for a second like your brain had stopped working. Humans do that a lot around me.

Then you opened the box completely and lifted me out.

And just like that — I was home.

You held me close, kissed my face, and said the words I will always answer to:

“Oh my baby…”

You cried. You laughed. You did both at the same time, which honestly made perfect sense to me. I didn’t know it then, but your heart had been through a lot. I just knew it needed me — and lucky you, I had arrived.

Ria and Aaryan were watching, trying not to cry themselves, because this wasn’t just a surprise. This was a plan. A very well-thought-out plan.

They had toys ready. Care ready. Protection ready. They even made sure I was small enough to go to work with you, because apparently you run stores and also needed a tiny supervisor with you who possessed excellent barking skills.

They knew you had loved a dog before.
They knew you had lost your brother far too young.
And they hoped — quietly — that I could bring back some light.

I stayed still for maybe a minute. Two, max. Then I remembered who I was.

Once I was out of the box, I ran. Everywhere. The house. The backyard. Investigated socks. Attacked carpets. And made it very clear that I was no longer scared and absolutely in charge.

The humans laughed. Someone said my name out loud for the first time.

“Bella.” Yes. That sounded correct.

I arrived nervous but became naughty immediately. And without even trying, I turned into a princess.

That day, I didn’t just join a family. I chose my humans.
And my favorite one — well, you already know:)
